Job Coach - Hastings

£10.50 per hour - Education

Our client is local charity who support adults with learning disabilities or Autism into paid word. They are currently looking for Job Coaches to join their dedicated team.

The ideal candidate will possess experience within a wide variety of work settings/job roles, experience of recruitment and/or training as well as experience of successful dealing with employers. You will possess an understanding of employment issues, possess effective communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to use standard office IT programmes.

As a Job Coach you will be supporting the same individual and their carers until they can withdraw their day-to-day support, often supporting with travel training, benefits sign posting, and providing support and guidance for the whole family. You will build confidence and support them to learn the skills they need to do the job to the best of the ability.

Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence and own transport is required. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualities:

  • Demonstrable experience of recruitment and/or training
  • Experience of working in a wide variety of work settings/job roles as well as experience of successfully dealing with employers
  • Have a good level of education
  • Possess an understanding of employment issues
  • Ability to use personal initiative within a structured framework
  • Possess good negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written with service users, other staff, clients, employers and other professionals
  • Be able to use standard office IT programmes
  • Have understanding and awareness of Equal Opportunities
  • Ability to work under pressure

Your duties as a Job Coach would be:

  • Establishing collaborative relationships and networks within and outside Little Gate, by working with employers/organisations to look at job opportunities and ways to support learners in the placement
  • Carrying out initial health and safety checks prior to placing work trainees for work experience
  • Applying for job coaching and travel training funding using the DWP Access To Work processes and procedures.
  • Contributing to and maintain action plans for work trainees, including SMART goals
  • Maintaining accurate records of the trainees work experience/employment in line with regular review of progress
  • Supporting work trainees in applying for placements/employment opportunities
  • Using Training in systematic Instruction, support work trainees in their placements as required
  • Delivering travel training to work trainees as required
  • Identifying training needs for work trainees in relevant skill and knowledge areas that link to employability skills
  • Liaising with the team in the case of pastoral care
  • Working with employers to look at job carving to create appropriate work experience and employment opportunities
  • Maintaining accurate records as required for monitoring, quality, and audit in accordance with charities policies
  • Managing own workload, prioritising effectively to meet agreed objectives and deadlines
  • Committing to flexible working hours
  • Ensuring compliance with processes and procedures
  • Providing support to other team members
  • Attending team meetings and training as required
  • Any other duties required by Head of Supported Employment

£10.50 per hour
