Extruder Operator - St Leonards on Sea

Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in St Leonards on Sea. A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Extruder Operator to join their hardworking and dedicated team.

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable experience in a similar position, have experience of machine operating, be a strong team player with a good attention to detail. As an Extruder Operator you will aid the Extruder Technicians in all required tasks within production. You will ensure stock is appropriately moved to storage, quality checks are performed, and all procedures are followed entirely.

Your duties as an Extruder Operator will include:

• Working under the direction of the Production Controller and Extruder Technicians to meet the production requirements of the shift allotted
• Ensuring that you record all required information clearly and diligently
• Being a steward for the continual quality standards and the improvement of our products, production procedures and equipment
• Working to achieve efficiency goals, repairs and maintenances of our equipment
• Taking a proactive role in the implementation of changes to production equipment and processes
• Following all health and safety procedures/regulations and ensuring your production team abide by these vital protocols and all matters relating to this are dealt in line with the company Health and Safety policy
• Communicating clearly and diligently all relevant information to the Production Controller and other team members on the allotted shift
• Reporting any defective safety equipment immediately and ensure all necessary safety actions are taken until equipment is repaired or replaced
• Ensuring that all equipment and the surrounding working spaces are kept in a clean and orderly condition, ensuring all staff understand that this is a joint responsibility for both safety and cleanliness
• Following the company’s quality systems, processes and procedures
• Reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to the Production Controller and Extruder Technicians
• Making sure that finished goods are transferred from the extruders to the correct location in the warehouse in a structured and efficient manner
• Ensuring raw materials are receipted, recorded, located and transferred correctly
• Ensuring that all preparations for the next shift are completed, ensuring that each extruder is ready for team members on the next shift to have a seamless transition
• Taking a proactive approach to your own continued personal and skills development, taking part in all relevant training required
• Site security
• Performing any other tasks appropriate to this position

Salary and Rewards Package:

• £21,312 per annum (shift allowance is included within the salary)
• 20 days of annual leave plus Bank Holidays (increases by 1 day per every full calendar year worked)
• Benenden Healthcare after 12 months of employment
• NEST Pension

Shift Pattern: 6am – 2.30pm/2pm – 10.30pm/10pm – 6.30am
